How we install, repair and maintain commercial roofing systems from GAF, Carlisle, Holcim Elevate, Sika Sarnafil, Soprema and others in Santa Rosa, CA.
Roofing Manufacturers
The brand on the old roof matters less than the chemistry under it. Owners ask for a repair "from the same company" and then discover that the sticker on the rooftop unit, the name on the invoice and the sheet on the roof are three different things. A membrane is a family of materials, and repairs only hold when the patch speaks the same language as the sheet.
In Santa Rosa, CA the major makers each handle heat, ponding and age differently. We install, repair and maintain their systems, and we say where each one is the wrong choice for a building.

Read the old roof first
Before a patch goes down, someone has to identify the membrane. TPO and PVC look alike from the ladder and weld differently. EPDM seams need splice adhesive or tape, never a heat gun. On a property the size of Coddingtown, 843,000 square feet built in 1962 and enclosed in 1979, a label from one roof says nothing about the one next to it. We cut a small test sample when the surface does not give the answer.
The big single-ply names
Carlisle SynTec built its reputation on Sure-Weld TPO and a wide EPDM range. Holcim Elevate now carries the Firestone UltraPly line, so an old Firestone label leads there. GAF goes well beyond residential shingles into commercial TPO and low-slope systems, and Versico is another single-ply maker owners run into. Johns Manville makes single-ply and layered systems alike, which suits roofs that need a heavier build. On a reflective TPO roof, our TPO roofing work leans on the maker's seam and flashing rules.
The specialists
Sika Sarnafil is known for PVC, which makes it useful where grease and chemicals reach the roof. Duro-Last cuts and welds PVC sheets in a factory to measurements taken off the roof. Soprema brings layered roofs and liquid-applied flashing resins such as Alsan, a real help on old masonry. The older buildings in Railroad Square, such as Hotel La Rose with stone walls 20 to 24 inches thick, put the weight on parapets and flashing rather than the sheet, which is where a liquid flashing resin earns its place.
Warranties are paperwork
A manufacturer's warranty is a contract with conditions, and the conditions are about maintenance, who touched the roof and whether repairs followed the maker's method. On a day like the 115 degree record of September 2022 the roof surface runs far hotter than the air, and the maintenance and repair records are what a claim rests on. A steady habit of roof warranty management keeps them straight.
Commercial Roofing Questions
My roof says Firestone. Who do I call for a repair?
Firestone products are now under Holcim Elevate, so the maker's name has changed even though the sheet has not. What matters for the repair is the sheet itself and how old it is. We identify the membrane, check the seams and flashing, and use materials that match it.
Can I mix brands on one roof?
You can, but the repair has to be chemically compatible with what is already there. Mixing a TPO patch onto PVC, or a rubber patch onto TPO, will fail at the seam. That is the practical reason to know what the existing membrane is before anything else.
The roof label is gone. How can the membrane be identified?
Check the sheet surface, seams, flashings and any remaining product marks. A small sample or core can resolve an uncertain system.
Can a patch from one manufacturer go on another sheet?
Only after compatibility is confirmed. Identify the existing membrane and use a repair method suited to that material.
Start with what is on the roof
Call and tell us what you know about the roof. After we look at it, we will tell you plainly whether it needs work now, later or not at all.
